GYFCP Tackle Football
ABOUT THE TEAM
- Tackle football is for athletes in 5th through 8th grade.
- Each grade will have their own team.
- Each team will have a maximum of 35 athletes.
- Per AAYFL rules, you need to reside within the boundaries of Greenfield School District (or open enroll).
PRACTICES AND GAMES
- Practice starts end-July and runs through Oct/Nov.
- Practice will be 4 days per week until school starts. Once school is in session, practices drop per league rules, to 6 hours per week.
- Practices will be held at Greenfield Middle School.
- Games can be either home (Greenfield High School) or away, and are on Saturdays, at staggered times. Most volunteer opportunities will be at our home games.
- The AAYFL has weight limit guidelines placed on all offensive backfield and receiver positions (any ball carrier). Players over the weight limit can definitely still play, but not as someone who can advance the ball.
EQUIPMENT
- Each athlete will receive the following borrowed equipment: helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, practice jersey and pants, game jerseys (home and away), game pants, and a belt.
- Items we provide that you keep: green game socks.
- Parents need to purchase: mouth guard with strap to attach to the helmet, 7-pad girdle, cup (boys), and non-metal football cleats. Optional: your own chin strap (we provide one but sometimes families like to use their own).
- Sometimes coaches/families purchase pink game socks in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Your coaches will provide more information.
Each family will submit an "equipment fee check" which we hold onto all season until you return the borrowed gear to us at the end of the season. This check is not cashed unless you do not return your gear.
VOLUNTEERING
We operate as a 100% volunteer program. For our season to be successful, we rely on parent participation.
Volunteer opportunities:
- Concession Stand
- Photographers
- Team Parent: Help coaches organize snack schedules and manage other team-related communications.
- Assistant Coaches: Additional coaches are always welcomed.
- Board Member: attend monthly meetings; support throughout the season. Board members get one free registration, up to $225.
Each family will submit a "volunteer check" that we hold onto all season until your volunteering commitments have been fulfilled. This check is not cashed unless you do not volunteer.
FUNDRAISING
- There is a mandatory fundraiser.
- In 2026, we've reduced the overall cost to play football and will be focusing on increasing our fundraising efforts.
Tackle Football 2026
The Greenfield Youth TACKLE Football Program is a co-ed program for all children in 5th through 8th grade. We are affiliated with the AAYFL. We aim to deliver an enjoyable and developmentally appropriate football experience, emphasizing relationships, sportsmanship, fair play, and the fundamentals of football.
You need to live in the City of Greenfield to participate in our TACKLE program.
We make paying football affordable. We offer early bird pricing and payment plans! Register early for an EXTRA early bird special. All registrations need to be paid in full before the season starts (end-July). If you need assistance with registration costs, please reach out to finance@greenfieldyouthfootball.org.
