Parent Code of Conduct
The Greenfield Youth Football and Cheer Program (GYFCP) strongly acknowledges that the parents are as important to the success of a program as much as the players and coaches. Parents should work with the coaches to help mentor and support all the players in a positive manner.
Help them become positive role models and first-class athletes by adhering to the following guidelines and understand that playing on any organized team is a privilege and with that privilege comes certain responsibilities:
- Always support the team and players; never put them down; always stress a positive attitude and encouragement.
- Always be indifferent to the attitudes and abilities of the other team.
- Never dwell on “bad calls” made or not; walk away, never approach an official, coach, parent or player. Confrontation, heated discussions have no place in the AAYFL/GYFCP.
- Parents will not engage in profanity, abusive verbal or physical attacks, including trash talking, taunting, or physical contact related to the game or not, to any player, coach, official, or fan. This applies to both in person and any use of all social media, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc…
- The use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, obscene language, or detrimental actions at AAYFL/GYFCP practices or games is strictly prohibited.
- Despite possible previous coaching experience, parents/fans must refrain from personally coaching different skills which may contradict the goals of the youth program. The players are being taught to play as a team, each player performing a set function. A player who abandons his teammates to follow his parent’s coaching (which contradicts the team schemes/techniques) is letting down both themselves and the team. Most importantly it may cause injury to themselves or worse their teammate.
- Specific concerns or complaints from parents regarding their player/coach or rules of the GYFCP must be addressed according to the GYFCP policy. This policy was adapted by the GYFCP Board to ensure that all players/parents feel comfortable registering complaints/questions/suggestions and that by following this policy--will in no way affect or have negative repercussions on the player or parent.
- The GYFCP reserves the right to respond to any and all complaints/reports of potential code of conduct violations and/or activity that is potentially detrimental to the GYFCP.
When you register your athlete into our program, you understand that GYFCP is a select program, and operates under select guidelines.
- Team size will be determined by the GYFCP Board and if needed player cuts can be made.
- Playing time, positions, and disciplinary actions will be determined by the coaches and supported by the GYFCP Board.
- Violation, or suspected violation of the AAYFL/GYFCP Code of Conduct, can result in your removal from the area, voluntarily or by law enforcement.
- Consequences may include but are not limited to: being prohibited to attend practices/games, banned from AAYFL/GYFCP events, future ability to participate in the GYFCP program.
