Football Info/Equipment

The Greenfield Youth Football Program (GYFCP) is a co-ed football program, for all children in 1st through 8th grade. We are proud to be a member of the Wisconsin All American Youth Football League (AAYFL) organization.


GYFCP offers several football programs:

  • 1st and 2nd grade, Pee Wee Flag Football
  • 3rd and 4th grade, Junior Padded Flag Football
  • 5th through 8th grade, Tackle Football

PeeWee Flag Football (1st and 2nd Grade)

The Greenfield Youth PeeWee Football Program aims to deliver an enjoyable and developmentally appropriate football experience, emphasizing relationships, sportsmanship, fair play, and the fundamentals of football. Good sportsmanship and fair play are mandatory for all people involved in the PeeWee Football League. 


PeeWee Flag Football

  • For all athletes in 1st and 2nd grade
  • Teams are made up of 6-8 athletes
  • We try to keep kids together that go to the same school
  • Athletes do not need to live in Greenfield to participate


Practices and Scrimmages

  • Practice begins mid-August and runs through October.
  • Practices are 2 days per week.
  • Practices are held at an Elementary School field (within the Greenfield School District).
  • There are usually 4-6 scrimmages per season.
  • Scrimmages are typically inner-squad but we look for other scrimmage opportunities with teams of the same age group in our area.
  • Scrimmages will have (2) 20 minute halves, with a 5 minute half time.
  • Scrimmages have a running clock.
  • There are 5 athletes that play in the game at any given time: QB, Center, RB, 2 tackle positions.
  • The field of play will consist of (2) 20-yard halves and (2) 5-yard end zones.
  • The width of the entire field is 25 yards.


Equipment

  • Items we provide that you keep: t-shirt and socks.
  • Items athletes need to purchase: mouth guard and non-metal football cleats.



Volunteers

  • We are a 100% volunteer program.
  • For our season to be successful, we rely on parent participation!
  • Examples of volunteer opportunities: 
  • Assistant coaches
  • Photographers
  • Concession stand: sell goodies during football games
  • Referees: you do not need professional-level football knowledge to serve as a referee; we provide referee cheat sheets to assist you!


Fundraising

  • Fundraising at this level is completely optional. 


2025 Teams

Junior Padded Flag Football (3rd and 4th Grade)

The Greenfield Youth Flag Football Program aims to deliver an enjoyable and developmentally appropriate football experience, emphasizing relationships, sportsmanship, fair play, and the fundamentals of football. Good Sportsmanship and fair play are mandatory for all people involved in the Junior Football League. 


Junior Padded Flag Football

  • For all athletes in 3rd and 4th grade
  • Teams are made up of 8-10 athletes
  • We try to keep kids together that go to the same school
  • Athletes do not need to live in Greenfield to participate
  • If there is a 4th grader that wants to "play up" to a 5th grade tackle team, please reach out to president@greenfieldyouthfootball.org


Practices and Scrimmages

  • The field of play will consist of (2) 20-yard halves and (2) 5-yard end zones.
  • The width of the entire field is 25 yards.


Equipment

  • Each athlete will receive the following borrowed equipment: jersey, shoulder pads, and helmet with chin strap. These items need to be turned in at the end of the season. 
  • Items we provide that you keep: t-shirt and socks.
  • Items athletes need to purchase: mouth guard and non-metal football cleats.
  • Each family will submit a $450 "equipment fee check" that  we will hold onto until you return the borrowed gear at the end of the season. This check is not cashed unless you do not return your gear.


Volunteers

  • We are a 100% volunteer program.
  • For our season to be successful, we rely on parent participation!
  • Each family will submit a $300 "volunteer check" that we hold onto all season until your volunteering commitments have been fulfilled. This check is not cashed unless you do not volunteer.

2025 Teams

TACKLE FOOTBALL (5TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE)

The Greenfield Youth Tackle Football Program aims to deliver an enjoyable and developmentally appropriate football experience, emphasizing relationships, sportsmanship, fair play, and the fundamentals of football. Good Sportsmanship and fair play are mandatory for all people involved in the Greenfield Youth Football League. 


Tackle Football

  • All athletes that are in 5th through 8th grade
  • Each team will have a maximum of 35 athletes
  • Per AAYFL: athlete must reside within the boundaries of Greenfield School District (or open enroll)


Practices and Games

  • Practice starts end-July and runs through Oct/Nov.
  • Practices are 4 days per week until school starts.
  • Once school is in session, we can practice 6 hours per week per AAYFL.
  • Practices are held at the Greenfield Middle School.
  • Games are on Saturdays. They can be either at home (Greenfield High School) or away. Most volunteer opportunities will be at our home games.
  • The AAYFL has weight limit guidelines placed on all offensive backfield and receiver positions (any ball carrier). Players over the weight limit can definitely still play, but not as someone who can advance the ball.


Equipment

  • Each athlete will receive the following borrowed equipment: helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, practice jersey and pants, game jerseys (home and away), game pants, and a belt. 
  • Items we provide that you keep: green game socks.
  • Athletes need to purchase: mouth guard with strap to attach to the helmet, 7-pad girdle, cup (boys), and non-metal football cleats. Optional: your own chin strap (we provide one but sometimes families like to use their own).
  • Each athlete will submit a $450 "equipment fee check" which we hold onto all season until you return the borrowed gear to us at the end of the season. This check is not cashed unless you do not return your gear.


Volunteers

  • We operate as a 100% volunteer program!
  • For our season to be successful, we rely on parent participation!
