GYFCP Tackle Football
ABOUT THE TEAM
- Tackle football is co-ed, for athletes in 5th through 8th grade.
- Each grade will have their own team.
- Each team will have a maximum of 35 athletes.
- Per AAYFL rules, you need to live in the City of Greenfield, attend a Greenfield School or live in the City of Milwaukee* to participate.
- *Your home must be closer to Greenfield than 21st and Scott St.
PRACTICES AND GAMES
- Practice starts end-July and runs through Oct/Nov.
- Practices are 4 days per week until school starts.
- Once school is in session, we can practice 6 hours per week per AAYFL.
- Practices are held at the Greenfield Middle School.
- Games are on Saturdays.
- Home games are at Greenfield High School. Most volunteer opportunities will be at our home games.
- Away games are at other High Schools in our area.
- The AAYFL has weight limit guidelines placed on all offensive backfield and receiver positions (any ball carrier). Players over the weight limit can definitely still play, but not as someone who can advance the ball.
- 5th grade weight limit to carry the ball = 100 lbs
- 6th grade weight limit to carry the ball = 120 lbs
- 7th grade weight limit to carry the ball = 140 lbs
- 8th grade weight limit to carry the ball = 160 lbs
EQUIPMENT
- Each athlete will receive the following borrowed equipment: helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, practice jersey and pants, game jerseys (home and away), game pants, and a belt.
- Items we provide that you keep: game socks.
- Athletes need to purchase: mouth guard with strap to attach to the helmet, 7-pad girdle, cup (boys), and non-metal football cleats. Optional: your own chin strap (we provide one but sometimes families like to use their own).
Each family will submit a $450 "equipment fee check" which we hold onto all season until you return the borrowed gear to us at the end of the season. This check is not cashed unless you do not return your gear.
VOLUNTEERING
We operate as a 100% volunteer program. For our season to be successful, we rely on parent participation. Examples of volunteer opportunities:
- Assistant coaches
- Concession stand; Grill; Chains
- Photographers
Each family will submit a $300 "volunteer check" that we hold onto all season until your volunteering commitments have been fulfilled. This check is not cashed unless you do not volunteer.
FUNDRAISING
There is a mandatory fundraiser.
